SAGAT-freeze
jsPsych plugin for SAGAT freeze probes — measures situation awareness with configurable item sets.
What & why
Situation awareness is hard to measure objectively in video studies — SAGAT freeze probes are the established method for doing so. At a freeze, the plugin hides the video and the display and presents randomised items across all three SA levels. The responses are compared with the ground-truth driving data of the run. The item templates (among them single/multiple choice, sliders for speed or consumption, vehicle relative position) are configurable. They can be reused with other item sets and display domains. Developed as a standalone module — without any change to the jsPsych core.
The methodological basis is Endsley’s SAGAT technique. The plugin
documentation (docs/plugin-videosimlab-sagat.md) is in the repository; the
exact field descriptions of the item templates are still being written there.
Quickstart
Install the package from the repository (npm install https://gitlab.com/ecosimlab/videosimlab-sagat#1.0.1), then import jsPsychVideosimlabSagat from "@ecosimlab/jspsych-plugin-videosimlab-sagat" and add it as a trial to the jsPsych timeline. Parameters: sectorId, replayType, items (an array of item configurations).
